How do you like your eggs…?

Egg cosies were introduced to The Wise Old Owl in spring last year, in the run up to Easter. They came as a pair, had a heart or star motif on the front and a free-motion embroidery message on the reverse. They were intended as a gift for Easter and were gift wrapped in tissue paper and presented in a box. They were something fun to add to the range and you thought so too.

Last year, they were the best seller at TWOO HQ. It seems that you do still use egg cosies and like a boiled egg or two.

The design was modified over the year to match the quilted tea cosies and drinks coasters, to create a whole kitchen dining range. Hearts and stars were out – chambray blue cotton pull tabs were in. Christmas ones were also introduced in bright festive prints.

The cosies are lined, sometimes in cream cotton, sometimes in a contrast print, and are filled with polyester wadding to keep the eggs nice and hot. The newer ones also have a branded TWOO label inside each one.

For this year I’ve introduced a Valentine’s version, complete with applique hearts and a romantic message on the reverse. Better than a box a chocolates and lasting longer than a bouquet of flowers, the egg cosies are a cute way of saying ‘I love you!’ Ideal for breakfast in bed, sharing brunch with friends, or treating the family when they come to visit, egg cosies are not just for Easter. They bring a touch of fun to the morning, or tea time too.

I’m planning designs for Mother’s Day, end-of-term teacher gifts and wedding celebrations. Which ones would you like to see too?

Oh, and as for me, I like mine softly boiled with toast soldiers.
